Image Mapper
An image map is a type of HTML element that lets you define clickable areas on an image. The area can be a rectangle (shape="rect"), polygon (shape="poly"), or circle (shape="circle").
To create an image map, you need an image to include in the map> tag and some HTML code to describe the clickable areas. The map> element is usually placed directly under the image, but can be used in conjunction with a link to another location within the same page or even another website.
Creating an image map is easy using software like Image Mapper. The software has a set of selection tools to select specific regions in an image and makes them clickable.
The program also has a variety of properties to configure for each clickable region. These include Link Type, Link, ALT Text, Title, Target Frame Name, and Mouse Actions.
Image maps are great for displaying information in an attractive and interactive way. Moreover, they can be easily embedded into any HTML or XHTML document.
For example, this article shows a clickable croissant. It enables users to open a web page with more information about this croissant.
This is a free application for Windows which can make an image map with different parts of the image linked to various locations on many HTML pages. It supports JPG, PNG, GIF, and BMP formats.
The image can be a photo, icon, logo, stock image, etc. Once the image is selected, the software will display a new window where you can specify a "hotspot" to designate a clickable area in the image. The software will then generate an HTML file for the generated image map.
